Concerto for Group and Orchestra (in translation from English. — "Concerto for group and orchestra") is a live album by British rock band Deep Purple, recorded with the Royal Philharmonic orchestra. One of the first attempts to blend classical music and rock music in one work. Was released in the U.S. in December 1969, and in the UK in January 1970. At the time of formation of the second Deep Purple line in the group, there was a confrontation between art-rock ambitions of Lord John and the hard-rock of Ritchie Blackmore. The Lord considered the possibility of creating works which will combine the features of classical and rock music. Deep Purple Manager Tony Edwards decides to go for broke and reserves albert Hall on 24 September, leaving John Lord about six months to write the score. JOPLIN, JANIS-IN CONCERT (2LP'S)-1972- FIRST PRESS USA-COLUMBIA-AL31162.  A rare American original of the cult album. In Concert is a live album by Janis Joplin. It was released in 1972, after Joplin's death, as a double album. The first record contains performances with Big Brother and the Holding Company, and the second with the Full Tilt Boogie Band, recorded in different locations in 1968 and 1970. There are no live recordings from her first solo work with the Kozmic Blues band on the album, although the songs produced with this group were performed in Full Tilt Boogie Band recordings. The photographs used for the gatefold album were taken by photographer David Gar in New York in 1969 and 1970. The album peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 in the US. ...more

The Soul Cages is the third studio album by British rock musician Sting, released on January 22, 1991. It became the singer's second album to reach the top of the national chart in his homeland. Four singles were released in support of the album: "All This Time", "Mad About You", "Why Should I Cry For You" and "The Soul Cages", the latter won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Song in 1992. ...more

ATLANTIS-SAME-1972-FIRST PRESS GERMANY-VERTIGO-6360609. A rare original continuation of the cult prog group FRUMPY. Atlantis was formed at the end of the summer of 1972 by Inga Rumpf (vocals), Jean-Jacques Kravets (keyboards) and Karl-Heinz Schott (bass). These musicians previously played in the band Frumpy. The founding members also included guitarist Frank Dees and drummer Kurt Kress (formerly of the band Emergency). After several live performances in Germany, the first LP was released at Island Records Studio in London, which was widely recognized, especially in the United States, where Rumpf's bluesy vocals were appreciated. Diz and Kress left the band after recording. For a four-week tour of England with Procol Harum and Traffic, George Meyer joined Atlantis as guitarist and Udo Lindenberg joined Atlantis as drummer. After the tour, they were replaced by Dieter Bornschlegel (who had previously worked with the band Dreamtorte) and Ringo Funk (who had previously worked with Geronimo), with whom the second album It's Getting Better (1973) was recorded. ...more

EAGLES-EAGLES-1972-ORIGINAL PRESS 1976 USA-ASYLUM-SD5054. A rare American early edition of the great band's first album. Eagles is the debut studio album by American rock band The Eagles. The album was recorded at London's Olympic Studios with producer Glyn Jones and released in 1972. The album immediately became a success for the young band, taking 22nd place in the charts and becoming platinum. Three singles were released from the album, each of which hit the Top 40: "Take It Easy" (12th place), "Witchy Woman" (9th place) and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" (22nd place). The band, starting with this album, played an important role in popularizing the sound of country rock. The album was ranked 368th on Rolling Stone Magazine's 2012 list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and 207th on the 2020 reboot of the list. The single "Take It Easy" is included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame "500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll". ...more
