EAGLES-EAGLES-1972-ORIGINAL PRESS 1976 USA-ASYLUM-SD5054. A rare American early edition of the great band's first album. Eagles is the debut studio album by American rock band The Eagles. The album was recorded at London's Olympic Studios with producer Glyn Jones and released in 1972. The album immediately became a success for the young band, taking 22nd place in the charts and becoming platinum. Three singles were released from the album, each of which hit the Top 40: "Take It Easy" (12th place), "Witchy Woman" (9th place) and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" (22nd place). The band, starting with this album, played an important role in popularizing the sound of country rock. The album was ranked 368th on Rolling Stone Magazine's 2012 list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and 207th on the 2020 reboot of the list. The album was released in the USA on June 7, 1976 by Capitol Records (catalog number SKBO 11537), in the UK on June 10, 1976 by Parlophone (catalog number PCSP 719); at that time, some media suggested that the album was released on the twentieth anniversary of the first meeting of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. If this was indeed the intention, then EMI made a mistake in their calculations, since in reality these two first met in July 1957.
