The Division Bell is the fourteenth studio album by the British progressive rock band Pink Floyd. In the UK, the CD was released on March 28, 1994 on the EMI label, in the USA it was released on April 4 of the same year on Columbia Records. The music is mostly written by David Gilmore and Richard Wright, the lyrics are mainly devoted to the topic of communication. The album was recorded in several locations, including Pink Floyd-owned Britannia Row Studios and Astoria. The Division Bell reached the top of the charts in the UK and the United States, but critics reacted coolly to it. The album was released immediately after Pink Floyd's tour of the USA and Europe. In June 1994, the disc was awarded the status of gold, platinum and double platinum in the USA, and in January 1999 it became triple platinum.
