The first compilation album by the American rock band the Eagles, released on February 17, 1976 by Asylum Records. The album contains a selection of songs from the first four Eagles albums released between the formation of the Eagles in 1971 and 1975. Their greatest hits (1971-1975) reached number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, where they remained for five weeks. "One of These Nights" and "The Best of My Love" topped the Billboard Hot 100. The album is notable for being the first album to receive platinum certification by the RIAA, which was introduced in 1976 to recognize albums sold a million copies in the United States. It peaked at number four on the Billboard year-end Albums chart in 1976 and spent a total of 239 weeks on the Billboard 200 as of August 2018. Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) was the best-selling album of the 20th century in the United States, and it remained so for several years until it was surpassed by Michael Jackson's thriller after the artist's death in 2009.. Perfect Strangers is the eleventh studio album by the British rock band Deep Purple and the first recorded by the reunited "classic line—up" of the band, released in November 1984. At the beginning of October, Perfect Strangers was mixed, and on November 16 it went on sale, rising to 5th place in Britain and 17th in the USA. Blackmore, known for his clumsiness, joked that the album should finally be called the 1974 album, hinting that the last album recorded in this line-up was released back in 1973 (Who Do We Think We Are).
