The album marked a significant change in style for Moore, [1] [2] who prior to this album was primarily known for his hard rock work with Thin Lizzy, G-Force, Greg Lake, and during his extensive solo career, as well as his jazz fusion work with Colosseum II. As the name suggests, Still Got The Blues demonstrates Moore's commitment to electric blues. The title track was released as a single and peaked at # 97 on the Billboard Hot 100 on February 16, 1991. It was his first album after the breakup of his band the Bluesbreakers in May 1968,[3] although others claim it was July 14, 1968. It was also his last album with Decca before moving to Polydor.John Mayall sings and plays harmonica, organ and guitar on the album. The other band members are a young Mick Taylor (guitar), Colin Allen (drums) and Steven Thompson (bass). Guitarist Peter Green is featured in the track "First Time Alone". The engineer was Derek Varnals. All the songs on the album were written by Mayall.The album's title comes from Laurel Canyon, California, USA (in the Los Angeles area), where John Mayall subsequently lived from 1969 to 1979. This is an account of his visit there before moving to the United States on a more permanent basis. At that time, this area was loved by many musicians.
