Two number-one singles, "Telegram Sam" and "Metal Guru", were released to promote the album. Released at the peak of the band's popularity, the album Slider received critical acclaim and reached number 4 on the UK Albums chart and number 17 in the USA.

Recorded in the winter of 1977 (although the appointment was made in October 1976) in London (Studio "Audio International Studios"). Released on RCA records in April of the same year. The film was produced by the musicians themselves. This album laid the Foundation for the next three albums. The release is characterized by a large number of dance-oriented tracks, but it is wrong to define the genre of the album as exclusively "disco"; for example, the song "Does Your Mother Know" has quite definite rock motifs. The work on the album went on for more than a year, and during this time the participants had accumulated more material than what they managed to put on the album. Among the works of that period published much later, it is worth mentioning the composition Dream World, included as a bonus track on the 2010 reissue.
