Styx is the ninth studio album by the American rock band Styx, released in 1979."Cornerstone" became Styx's third consecutive multi-platinum album and the first album to be nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group category. As with the previous four Styx albums, the band produced this album themselves. Styx recorded the album at Pumpkin Studios in Oak Lawn, Illinois. "Cornerstone" is best known for featuring the band's only song to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the powerful ballad "Babe". The album also includes the folk-rock song "Boat on the River", which became a hit in Europe but did not chart in the United States. STEVE VAI- PASSION AND WARFARE - 1990- FIRST PRESS UK-FFT- GRUB17. A rare British original. Passion and Warfare is the second studio album by guitarist Steve Vai, released on May 22, 1990 on Relativity and Epic Records. He received a gold certificate from the RIAA. Passion and Warfare was written based on a series of episodes of dreams that Vai had when he was younger, and in the album's guitar notes book Vai summarizes it this way: "Jimi Hendrix meets Jesus Christ at a party that Ben Hur arranged for Mel Blanc." It was all recorded at Mothership Studios in his Hollywood Hills home, a 1,600-square-foot (150 m2) building that also recorded his guitar parts for Whitesnake's 1989 album Slip of the Tongue. Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale has small spoken parts on the album; Coverdale, Adrian Vandenberg and Rudy Sarzo are credited with backing vocals. Vai claims that planning for the album began back in 1982, but was postponed after joining David Lee Roth's band and was not resumed until the breakup with Roth in 1989. ...more

Work on Abbey Road took place from February to August 1969 and became the last joint project of all four members of the ensemble (the last numbered album of the group Let It Be, released in 1970, was mostly recorded in January 1969). The record was produced by George Martin, who had worked with the band since 1962. Abbey Road sales totaled four million copies in the first two months. In the UK, the album debuted at the top of the national chart, where it remained for 11 weeks, after which it was supplanted by The Rolling Stones' Let It Bleed for one week. Then he returned to the 1st place again (in the Christmas week) and stayed there for another six weeks (17 weeks in total), until he was displaced by the second Led Zeppelin record - Led Zeppelin II. Abbey Road spent a total of 81 weeks on the UK Albums chart. There was a similar situation abroad. The record occupied the top spot of the Billboard Top LP chart for 11 weeks, becoming the best-selling album of 1969 according to the National Association of Recording Companies, as well as one of the record holders of the Japanese chart, appearing in its Top 100 for 298 weeks throughout the 1970s. ...more
