Styx is the ninth studio album by the American rock band Styx, released in 1979."Cornerstone" became Styx's third consecutive multi-platinum album and the first album to be nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group category. As with the previous four Styx albums, the band produced this album themselves. Styx recorded the album at Pumpkin Studios in Oak Lawn, Illinois. "Cornerstone" is best known for featuring the band's only song to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the powerful ballad "Babe". The album also includes the folk-rock song "Boat on the River", which became a hit in Europe but did not chart in the United States. The cover with the wavy edge delayed production for two months. Ahead of the release, the band posted a full-page advertisement in Melody Maker magazine at the end of September saying, "Thank you for making us the number one band in the world."  The album was released in the US on October 5, and in the UK on October 23. He immediately topped the UK charts. Led Zeppelin III became the number one transatlantic hit. In the UK, it reached number one on November 7, 1970 and remained on the charts for 40 weeks. In the United States, it entered the charts at number three on October 24 and reached number one the following week.
