JOPLIN, JANIS-IN CONCERT (2LP'S)-1972- FIRST PRESS USA-COLUMBIA-AL31162. A rare American original of the cult album. In Concert is a live album by Janis Joplin. It was released in 1972, after Joplin's death, as a double album. The first record contains performances with Big Brother and the Holding Company, and the second with the Full Tilt Boogie Band, recorded in different locations in 1968 and 1970. There are no live recordings from her first solo work with the Kozmic Blues band on the album, although the songs produced with this group were performed in Full Tilt Boogie Band recordings. The photographs used for the gatefold album were taken by photographer David Gar in New York in 1969 and 1970. The album peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 in the US.

As with the previous album, In Trance, the cover was censored in some countries the album was released with an alternative version of the cover. The artwork was Steffan Böhle, Manager of RCA Records. He depicted a naked minor girl on black background; broken glass effect covering her genitals. In Japan, the album reached the 32nd line in the hit parade. The CD was released after the extraordinary success of Band on the Run and also became very popular. Paul McCartney's first album with Capitol Records. After the release of Band on the Run, Jimmy McCulloch (lead guitarist) and Jeff Britton (drummer) also joined the Wings in 1974. After McCartney wrote several new songs for the upcoming album, the band flew to New Orleans in January 1975, where they were scheduled to record Venus and Mars.Britton, having quarreled with McCulloch, left the band, having managed to participate in the recording of only three songs of the album. He was urgently replaced by American Joe English, with whom the recording was continued. McCartney made the songs in Venus and Mars blend seamlessly into each other, and the album in this sense became similar to The Beatles' Abbey Road album.
