"Heroes" is the twelfth studio album by British musician David Bowie, released on October 14, 1977 on the RCA Records label; the second of the so-called "Berlin trilogy" (albums Low, "Heroes", Lodger), recorded in collaboration with Brian Eno. The only album of the cycle, entirely recorded in Berlin. On the "Heroes" disc, the sound of Low's previous album evolved in a more "positive" direction. The composition of the same name — a classic story of two lovers secretly meeting near the Berlin Wall with a threat to their lives - remains one of Bowie's most famous songs to this day. The album as a whole was extremely highly appreciated by critics - in particular, thanks to the contribution of guitarist Robert Fripp, who specially flew from the USA for one day to record his guitar parts. After an eventful year, during which two studio albums, Low and Heroes, were released in 1977, as well as many other side projects, Bowie embarked on the Isolar II world tour in 1978. The album's title is inspired by Jean Paul Sartre's novel Nausea, as Sartre wanted to call it Melancholia. "Melancholia" becomes an extremely successful album.
