Dire Straits is the debut studio album by the British rock band Dire Straits, released in October 1978. On October 7, 1978, the Dire Straits album was officially released on the Phonogram label. Since 1979, the album has been released under the Vertigo label. The album's sales results are quite impressive, with four million copies sold in Europe and two million copies sold in the United States. The fate of the singles is diametrically different — Sultans of Swing was accepted by the public, reached the 8th position in the UK chart. Water of Love was released in some countries and the best achievement was the 54th position in the Australian chart.
