The film was attended by popular rock musicians (including Viktor Tsoi), the soundtrack included songs by Boris Grebenshchikov and the group "Aquarium", Zhanna Aguzarova with the group" Bravo", the group"Cinema". Thus, the film "Assa" became one of the main film evidence of Russian rock, which reached its peak in the second half of the 1980s. The film was mostly shot in Yalta in November-December 1986. The film premiered on March 25, 1988 at the Moscow DC MEL'z as part of the Assa art-rock parade. According to Solovyov, the film itself was shot for two months, after which the director spent another eight months on its release
