Closing Time is the debut album by American singer-songwriter Tom Waits, released on March 6, 1973 on the Asylum Records label. Produced and arranged by former Lovin 'Spoonful member Jerry Yester, Closing Time was the first of Waits' seven major releases from Asylum. The album was moderately successful in the United States, and although it did not chart and received little attention from the music press in the UK and other countries too. This explains that the album began to be re-released in Europe in the second half of the 70s when Tom became a super star. Until 1991, it existed only as a magnetoalbum, being distributed by copying. Included in the book by Alexander Kushnir "100 magnetoalbums of Soviet rock", The recording was made on June 7-10, 1981. The sound engineer was Alexander "Artem" Arutyunov. The album was mixed on the spot. The songs "In life, as in a Dark thicket", "Who's to Blame?" and "I used to wander one" were first recorded in 1979 on the first album. A total of 9 songs were recorded.
