Deep Purple (also known as April) is the third studio album by the British band Deep Purple. The last album created by the original line-up of the band, known as "Mark I". Recorded between January and March 1969) at De Lane Lea Studios in London. It was released in the US in June on the Tetragrammaton Records label, and in the UK in September 1969 on the Harvest Records label. The most famous composition of the album (after which the entire album is often called) is the final 12-minute piece "April", recorded with the participation of specially hired musicians playing wind and string instruments.

Perfect Strangers is the eleventh studio album by the British rock band Deep Purple and the first recorded by the reunited "classic line-up" of the band, released in November 1984. In early October, Perfect Strangers was mixed, and on November 16 it went on sale, rising to the 5th place in Britain and to the 17th-in the USA. Blackmore, known for his inconsistency, joked that the album should finally be called the album of 1974, hinting that the last album recorded in this line-up was released back in 1973 (Who Do We Think We Are). Such zeal did not remain without consequences: the album turned out to be very successful, quickly became platinum, took 5th place in the UK charts and 17th place in the USA. "Walls And Bridges" was recorded during the long absences of Lennon and Yoko Ono. The song "Whatever Gets You thru the Night" was attended by Elton John. He made a bet with Lennon that the song would be able to take first place in the American hit parade (which was previously not possible for any one single solo Lennon). If this would have happened, Lennon was required to attend the Elton John concert. He had to fulfill his promise, because, "Whatever Gets You thru the Night" actually managed to climb to the top of the chart. The song "Beef Jerky" is the only instrumental on solo albums Lennon.
