Produced by Flood, Brian Inoi and The Edge, it was released on July 5, 1993 on Island Records. Zooropa received generally positive reviews from critics. Despite the fact that none of his three singles—"Numb", "Lemon" and "Stay (Far, so Close!)"—was a consistent hit in different regions, the record sold well after release, entering the top ten out of 26 countries.
