He had an original timbre of voice and an expressive artistic presentation of the song. He could vividly beat a song in any style, from romantic to jazz.

After Bevan left the band at the end of 1999, he sold his half of the rights to the Electric Light Orchestra name to Jeff Lynn, and the band changed its name to Orchestra.
