A rare original of the cult album. Nightflight to Venus is the third studio album by Euro-Caribbean band Boney M., released in July 1978. The album became a major success in continental Europe, Scandinavia and Canada, topping most album charts in the second half of 1978, and also became their first number one album in the UK. In Canada, the album received a nomination for the 1980 Juno Award in the International Album of the Year category. Nightflight to Venus includes the worldwide hits "Rivers of Babylon" and "Brown Girl in the Ring", a two-sided single that topped the UK singles chart and sold over 2 million copies.[4] The sequel was another Boney M. classic, "Rasputin", which in most countries was also performed on the double A side in combination with "Painter Man", a cover version of the 1966 hit by The Creation. A rare British original of the cult blues-rock band. They were one of the bands that British Decca (USA, London/Parrot) had a relationship with during difficult times until they started selling records; it took four or five albums until they started selling in the USA. In the late 1960s and 1970s, the band managed to break into the Billboard Hot 100. The 1971 release of Street Corner Talking included the songs "Tell Mama" and "Conversation on the Street Corner". Nevertheless, superstability constantly eluded them, perhaps partly due to frequent changes in the composition. Despite this, their next album Hellbound Train (1972) entered the Top 40 album for them in the USA. In January 1974, the British music magazine NME reported that Stan Webb was joining Savoy Brown after the breakup of Chicken Shack.
