Artwoods is a British rock band formed in 1963 and worked between 1964 and 1967.Singer Arthur Wood, from whom the band took its name, was the older brother of Ronnie Wood (who later became famous thanks to Faces and Rolling Stones). Art Wood was the lead singer of Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated for a short period in 1962, while also leading his own band ART WOOD COMBO. When keyboardist Jon Lord (later founded DEEP PURPLE) and guitarist Derek Griffiths of Red Bludd's Bluesicians joined the ART WOOD COMBO, ARTWOODS was formed. They were very popular competing with the ANIMALS group, but sales did not reflect this popularity.

After the release of the album , critics wrote: There is a clear discrepancy between the sheer ambition of this CD and its rather modest status in Santana's discography. The reason, obviously, is that the powerful swing did not quite succeed. We can say that this album is a continuation of the storyline started on Love, Devotion, Surrender with John McLaughlin. Their debut album Blues Helping included the songs "Summertime" and "Wang Dang Doodle". They are best known for their new 1968 hit on the UK singles chart, a high-speed cover version of Aram Khachaturian's classic piece "Dance with a Saber", released on the Parlophone label (R 5744), which reached number 5 on the UK Singles chart in December 1968. The recording was inspired by Keith Emerson's classic permutations. "Sabre Dance" became a hit after the broadcast of British DJ John Peel, who was so impressed that he played it twice in the same program.. In December 1968, the British music magazine NME reported that Love Sculpture had signed a recording contract in the US with London Records guaranteeing 250,000 pounds.
