BEATLES-SAME (WHITE ALBUM) - MONO-1968-FIRST PRESS-UK-APPLE-PCS7068 Matrix numbers: A-1/B-1/C-1/D-1. Version with the added text “An E. M. I. Recording".  The number on the cover is N 80922. The Beatles (also known as The White Album) is the tenth studio album by The Beatles and the band's only double release. The album, released in 1968, is better known as the "White Album" because of its white cover, which contains nothing but the band's name (the early editions also feature a serial number), and which was designed by artist Richard Hamilton as an antithesis to the mottled image of its predecessor. The White Album was the first album The Beatles recorded and released after the death of the band's manager, Brian Epstein. It was originally planned to be called A Doll's House ("Doll's House"), but due to the release of a longplay by the band Family with a similar name, Music in a Doll's House ("Music in a doll's House"), it was decided to rename it . The album reached number 1 in the UK and US charts and is now considered one of the greatest albums of all time and a masterpiece of rock music. So, it was placed at the 10th position in the "Music of the Millennium" poll conducted by HMV, Channel 4, The Guardian and Classic FM, as well as at the 17th place in the similar list of Q magazine. It also reached number 7 in the same publication's "100 Best British Albums of All Time" poll. White Album was ranked the 11th Best Album of All Time by VH1, and was also included in Time Magazine's "100 Best Albums" list. In addition, the record is ranked 10th in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All time, 1st in the L. A. Weekly's "20 Greatest Double Albums", the same place in the NME's "30 Must-Listen Double Albums" list, and the top spot in The Daily Telegraph's "10 Greatest Double Albums in History". According to the RIAA, the White Album is the band's best-selling album in the United States and ranks as the 10th best-selling album in history.

Lot 27.SWEET SMOKE-JUST A POKE-1970-FIRST PRESS GERMANY-COLUMBIA-NMINT/NMINT

SWEET SMOKE-JUST A POKE-1970-FIRST PRESS GERMANY-COLUMBIA-1C062-28886 is a very rare German original of one of the most iconic albums of prog music. Sweet Smoke is an American band formed in 1967 and played progressive rock. This is primarily a live band known for its long, impromptu performances.  It was created by Andrew Dershin, Mike Paris, Victor Sacco, Jay Dorfman and Merwin Kaminowitz in Brooklyn, New York. In the beginning, the band played in American clubs in front of a small audience. Then she moved to the Virgin Islands under the name "Ice Company", because the management of local clubs believed that the name "Sweet Smoke" ("Fragrant Smoke") and the hippie image were too provocative. After spending a short time in the Caribbean, the group moved to Germany at the end of 1969, where its members received the support of the famous German sculptor Waldemar Kuhn. Their first album Just A Poke in 1970 consisted of only two long songs Baby Night (16:22 min) and Silly Sally (16:24 min). The first is probably the band's most famous composition, mainly due to the distinctive melodies of Michael Paris' flute. The second one is remembered by Dorfman's long drum solo, played in a stereo effect (the so-called ping-pong effect). The first album gave the band the status of a cult icon of the underground, which emerged in Europe as a response to the American hippie scene. ...more
