The band's first album, Downtown Flyers (1975) was released both in the US and in Europe, and interest in Europe was encouraging. .Their second studio album, the heavy groove album Red Card (1976) reached number 16 in the UK album charts and remains a highly respected album. By 1977, by the time of the release of their third and final studio album, Vicious But Fair (1977), their potential could have been more significant in the history of British rock, but was reduced due to changes in VERTIGO due to the growing influence of punk rock and new wave music on European culture. King mixed elements of blues and rock music. The result was one of King's most critically acclaimed albums and one of the most highly acclaimed blues crossover albums of all time. The album appeared on several Billboard album charts in 1970, peaking at number 26 on the Pop Albums chart, number seven on the Jazz Albums chart, and number eight on Billboard's "Black Albums" list.
