ASTRUD from Brazil, was born on March 30, 1940 in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. The album Astrud Gilberto (with Antonio Carlos Jobim) is the debut studio album by Astrud Gilberto. With Antonio Carlos Jobim on guitar and arrangements by Marty Paichaon was released on the Verve Records label in 1965. It peaked at number 41 on the Billboard 200 chart. In 2017, NPR placed it at number 73 on the list of "150 Greatest Albums Made by Women".

It was released by Decca in the UK and Parrot in the US in September 1969. This is the last album recorded with longtime pianist Bob Hall. The album track "Made Up My Mind" first appeared as the B-side of an American single on Parrot Records 45-40039 (released in June 1969), accompanied by "Train to Nowhere" from their album Blue Matter. The track "Waiting in the Bamboo Grove" would later be released as the B-side of the British Decca single F 13019 (released in May 1970) "A Hard Way To Go" from their album. Raw siena.
