A rare British original of the cult group. Love over Gold is the fourth studio album by the British rock band Dire Straits, released on September 20, 1982 on Vertigo Records and Warner Bros. Records in the USA. The presence of detailed musical compositions with long instrumental passages in the album brings it closer in style to progressive rock. This is the last CD of the band recorded with the participation of the original drummer Peak Withers. The singles from the album, "Private Investigations", reached number 2 on the UK Singles Chart, and "Industrial Disease" reached number 9 on the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. Starting work in the studio on April 16, 1969, the musicians recorded 8 songs included in the album of the same name in 2 days. In November of the same year, the band took part in the festival in the Belgian city of Amougies together with "Pink Floyd", "Colosseum", "The Nice", "East Of Eden", Frank Zappa, etc. In 1970, before the release of the second album, Joël Daydé and Pierre Fanen left the band due to musical differences, and Englishman Ian Bellamy took the place of the vocalist. The second album was recorded from June 12 to September 9, 1970, later receiving the opportunity to promote on the two largest radio stations in New York - "WOR—FM" and "WABC-FM". A single from the final part of "The Gates of Delirium" titled "Soon" was released in January 1975.
