Communiqué was recorded in November-December 1978, at Compass Point Studios, Nassau and produced by Jerry Wexler and Barry Beckett. The album was the first to debut in the German charts at number 1 in the first week of sales (their debut album Dire Straits was still at number 3 in this country). In total, it has sold over 7 million copies worldwide. In Europe, 3,600 thousand copies were sold, and in the USA it reached gold status.

Love over Gold is the fourth studio album by the British rock band Dire Straits, released on September 20, 1982 on Vertigo Records and Warner Bros. Records in the USA. The presence of detailed musical compositions with long instrumental passages in the album brings it closer in style to progressive rock. This is the last CD of the band recorded with the participation of the original drummer Peak Withers. The singles from the album, "Private Investigations", reached number 2 on the UK Singles Chart, and "Industrial Disease" reached number 9 on the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks.
