Released in October 1990, the album was less positively received than Vol. 1, but still had a fair success. In the United States, "She's My Baby" (with guest guitarist Gary Moore) and "Inside Out" became radio hits, charting 2nd album rock and 16th album rock respectively. The album peaked at number 14 in the UK and number 11 in the US, where it was certified platinum by the RIAA.

In Search of the Lost Chord is the third studio album by the British band The Moody Blues, released in July 1968 on Deram Records. The Moody Blues' second album, recorded in the classic Hayward—Pinder—Lodge—Thomas Edge line—up, and the band's second work with producer Tony Clark. On this record, the band's signature sound was formed, built around a mellotron. The album was written under the influence of LSD, transcendental meditation and Oriental music, in particular, Hindustani music. The theme of the album's songs touches on such topics as the spiritual development of a person, his desire for search and discovery. Two songs from the record, "Ride My See-Saw" and "Voices in the Sky", were also released as singles. After the release of In Search of the Lost, Chord took quite high positions in the charts. It was released by Decca in the UK and Parrot in the US in September 1969. This is the last album recorded with longtime pianist Bob Hall. The album track "Made Up My Mind" first appeared as the B-side of an American single on Parrot Records 45-40039 (released in June 1969), accompanied by "Train to Nowhere" from their album Blue Matter. The track "Waiting in the Bamboo Grove" would later be released as the B-side of the British Decca single F 13019 (released in May 1970) "A Hard Way To Go" from their album. Raw siena. Side Two was recorded live at Cooks Ferry Inn, Edmonton, London, on May 12, 1969.
