This is the first CD recorded by the band after Roger Waters left Pink Floyd. Work on the album A Momentary Lapse of Reason lasted from November 1986 to July 1987 in seven studios in London and Los Angeles. The main part of the material for the new album was written by David Gilmore. In addition, Gilmore took over the duties of producer. Bob Ezrin was invited to record the album as a co-producer. Unlike Pink Floyd's previous works, A Momentary Lapse of Reason is not based on any concept combining the lyrics.A Momentary Lapse of Reason rose to number three in both the US and UK charts.
