This is the last CD of the band recorded with the participation of the original drummer Peak Withers. The singles from the album, "Private Investigations", reached number 2 on the UK Singles Chart, and "Industrial Disease" reached number 9 on the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. The album topped the charts in Australia, Austria, Italy, New Zealand, Norway and the UK, and peaked at No. 19 in the US. Love over Gold was later certified gold in the US, platinum in France and Germany, and double platinum in Canada and the UK.
