In 2014, Four Sail took 1st place in the list of 101 NME albums worth listening to in life. In 2019, Bob Stanley wrote in Record Collector magazine that "there was a time when people rejected the very beautiful 1969 Love album Four Sail simply because it didn't sound like a continuation of Forever Changes," but noted that later the opinion changed a lot.
