In 1967, Richard Stivers and Tom Harris played in the Detroit Vibrations ensemble. Gary Thompson replaced the guitarist, and the line-up included vocalist Tom Beaudry and guitarist Dan Yeley. In 1969, the band changed its name to "Frijid Pink" and began to perform actively. In late 1969, the band released the single "House Of The Rising Sun", which became a hit. In early 1970, the debut album was released, which took 11th place in America and 1st place in Germany.

Holy Diver is the debut studio album by Dio, released in 1983. After leaving Black Sabbath, Ronnie James Dio put together a new band, which included drummer Vinnie Appisi, bassist Jimmy Bain and guitarist Vivian Campbell. Holy Diver's debut album was recorded in the style of Black Sabbath's latest works, which attracted many fans of this band to Ronnie's new band. Holy Diver reached number 13 in the UK charts and number 56 in the US (but here it went gold and subsequently platinum). Critics rate the album highly, and many of the songs from it are considered anthems and classics of heavy rock. Ronnie James Dio himself was recognized by the readers of Kerrang! magazine as the best vocalist, and his band was recognized as the best new band of 1983.
