A very rare original of the cult album Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One, usually shortened to Lola Versus Powerman or simply Lola, is the eighth studio album by the English rock band The Kinks, released on November 27, 1970. It is a concept album that is a satirical assessment of the music industry, including song publishers, trade unions, the press, accountants, business managers and life on tour. This marked the expansion of the band to five members with the addition of keyboardist John Gosling. Despite the fact that the album Lola Versus Powerman was released during a transitional period for The Kinks, it was a success with both critics and the public, hitting the top 40 in America and bringing the band back into the public eye, becoming a "comeback". It included two hit singles: "Lola", which reached the top 10 in the US and UK, and "Apeman", which reached number five in the UK.
