An album by Jan Garbarek's band, recorded in December 1984 and released on ECM in September of the following year. The quartet consists of David Thorne, Eberhard Weber and Michael Di Pasqua. AllMusic gave the album four stars, and critic Mark W. B. Allender wrote: Here Garbarek approaches the extremes of his style, performing with his band again. All the compositions on this album are named after quotes from Thomas Transtroemer's poems, and although the connection with these poems remains weak at best, they add a provocative element to the compositions themselves, which require at least some kind of programmatic interpretation. Multi-instrumentalist David Thorne is primarily responsible for the more aggressive nature of this record.
