Hounds of Love is the fifth studio album by British singer and songwriter Kate Bush, released on September 16, 1985 by EMI Records. Recorded during 1983-1985, the album became the second in the singer's discography, which she produced independently. The album was accompanied by four singles: "Running Up That Hill", "Cloudbusting", "Hounds of Love" and "The Big Sky". "Running Up That Hill" has become one of Kate Bush's most popular songs. Hounds of Love was the singer's most commercially successful studio album. It became Bush's second album to top the UK national chart, after Never for Ever, and also reached the top ten of the charts in Australia, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland and Sweden. The album became the first in Bush's career to reach the top thirty of the US Billboard 200. The album was certified double platinum for 600,000 copies sold in the UK, platinum for 500,000 copies in Germany and platinum for 100,000 copies in Canada. The total worldwide circulation of Hounds of Love was 3 million copies. The album was nominated at the 1986 BRIT Awards in the Best British Album category, and Bush was nominated in the Best British Artist and Best British Single categories for the song "Running Up That Hill". In 2022, the album became popular again, entered many charts around the world and topped the American Billboard Top Alternative Albums chart, after the song "Running Up That Hill" appeared in the Netflix series "Very Strange Things".
