It is the first of two original albums by the funk band Eric Burdon and The War, released on MGM in April 1970. It reached number 18 on the record charts in the US, number 50 in the UK and number 7 in Australia. On the back cover there is a statement: "We, the People, have declared war on the People for the right to love each other." The album received gold gold status in the United States and Europe.
