Mistaken Identity is the fourteenth studio album by American singer Donna Summer, released on August 23, 1991 on Atlantic Records. In the new record, Summer continues to experiment with various musical genres, this time the album is recorded in an urban style. However, the album becomes one of the most disastrous releases in Donna Summer's career, it does not enter either the UK Albums Chart or the US Billboard 200. Two singles were released from the album: "When Love Cries", which reached number 77 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and number 18 on the Billboard RB charts; and "Work That Magic", was released as a single in the UK, where it reached number 74 on the UK Singles Chart.

In France, Scène de vie climbed to number 2 on May 10, 1990, and then reached the top of the album chart and stayed there for ten weeks. It spent 38 weeks in the top ten and 78 weeks in the top 50.[3] It became a diamond disc eight years after its release, just as Mademoiselle Chante did... before him.
