Here we are again witnessing a mighty spiritual message and free jazz arrivals. Here, Santana's partner is Alice Coltrane, the widow of the famous jazz musician. The swing here is obvious: a bold attempt to mix classical, jazz and ethnic rhythms together - that is, to make a universal, comprehensive album. Admittedly, on quieter numbers, all this sounds very pleasant: beautiful passages by Santana, Alice's harp overdubs and blissful strings delight the ear, and for the sake of this alone, the album is worth keeping on the shelf. However, the central part of the album is still the 15-minute Angel Of Sunlight, which begins very smoothly, but develops into a frenzied battle of instruments and cultures.
