DEPECHE MODE-PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE -1984-FIRST PRESS USA-SIRE/MUTE-7599-25124-1/ A rare American compilation of unreleased material from 1981 to 1984 of the period of the first three albums. People Are People is a compilation album by the British band Depeche Mode, released on July 2, 1984 in order to consolidate the broadcast success of the song "People Are People", which was released as a single in March 1984. The collection includes nine songs, six of which were already present on Depeche Mode studio albums, and three songs became new for the USA — the singles "People Are People" and "Get the Balance Right!", as well as the B-sides "Now, This Is Fun" and "Work Hard" from the singles "See You" and "Everything Counts" respectively. It was released by the Polydor label on November 28, 1970, but failed to chart. The album, produced by Chas Chandler, was the first to be released under the Slade name since the band's 1969 debut album was released under the Ambrose Slade name. The album was recorded at London's Olympic Studios with producer Glyn Jones and released in 1972. The album immediately became a success for the young band, taking 22nd place in the charts and becoming platinum. Three singles were released from the album, each of which hit the Top 40: "Take It Easy" (12th place), "Witchy Woman" (9th place) and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" (22nd place). The band, starting with this album, played an important role in popularizing the sound of country rock. The album was ranked 368th on Rolling Stone Magazine's 2012 list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and 207th on the 2020 reboot of the list. The album was originally planned to be released in 1990, after 18 concerts Eric in the beginning of the year, but the musician was dissatisfied with the recorded material and the gate 24 Nights was delayed.
