Pendulum is the sixth studio album by American band Creedence Clearwater Revival, recorded at Wally Hyder's studio in San Francisco and released on the Fantasy label in December 1970. Pendulum is the last CCR album to feature rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, who left the band shortly after the album's release. The record demonstrates the group's desire to expand its own stylistic framework, a number of his compositions are musically noticeably more complex than the CCR recordings of the 1968-1969 sample. The most ambitious of the band's seven albums, Pendulum was recorded for about a month — twice as long as the rest of the records.

Page described the idea of the cover as "a symbol of innocence, an expression of the idea that we are all beings who aspire to the promised heaven." Six-year-old Samantha Gates and her four-year-old brother Stefan posed. The cover photo is a collage of more than thirty pictures. The album cover did not contain any information about the artists or the title. In the USA, the headline was written on ribbons that were taped over children's buttocks. Despite this precaution, the record was banned in many states of the "Bible Belt". "They wouldn't let us do anything like that today, they would immediately accuse us of pedophilia propaganda," says Powell, "but we were hippies, walking around naked was completely commonplace for us." In 2011, the album cover was ranked 28th in the list of the best album covers of all time by the online edition of Music Radar.
