A rare European original of the iconic soundtrack.The Doors: Original Soundtrack Recording is the soundtrack to Oliver Stone's 1991 film Doors. It contains several studio recordings by the Doors, as well as "Heroin" by the Velvet Underground and "Carmina Burana" by Earl Orff. None of Val Kilmer's renditions of the Doors songs featured in the film are included in the soundtrack. The album cover features Jim Morrison performed by Val Kilmer. This is a photo of Kilmer looking directly into the camera lens. Named after a Norwegian fairy tale, the album was something of a departure from the band's earlier radio-oriented sound to a darker and moodier tone. The song reached number one in the band's native Norway and entered the top 20 in various European countries and Japan. CHARLES LLOYD-SOUNDTRACK- 1969-FIRST PRESS USA-ATLANTIC-SD1519. A rare original by one of the iconic saxophonists of the second wave of the 60s. The Soundtrack is a live album by jazz saxophonist Charles Lloyd, recorded at New York City Hall in 1968 by the Charles Lloyd Quartet featuring Keith Jarrett, Ron McClure and Jack DeJohnette.Tom Jurek's review on Allmusic awarded the album 4 stars and reads: "The soundtrack stomps with all the fury of a live gospel choir trying to assign Saturday night to God and not another guy... The band is in a heavy Latin American mood, where blues, samba, bossa, hard bop, modal and even soul are saturated with blues. With only four tunes presented, the Charles Lloyd Quartet, although slightly more dissonant than in 1966 and 1967, plays much harder, rougher and gets into rhythm faster than any group that Lloyd led previously... The band broke up shortly after when Jarrett left to play with Miles Davis, but if it had been a swan song live, they couldn't have picked a better gig. ...more

Hymns to the Silence is the twenty-first studio album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison. It was his first studio double album. Morrison recorded the album in 1990 in Buckington at The Wool Hall Studios and in London at the Townhouse and Westside Studios. When Hymns to the Silence was released in 1991, it reached number five on the UK Albums Chart and received positive reviews from critics. Morrison's use of various musical styles was well received, as were the more mundane songs from the album, with an otherwise spiritual content. ...more
