A New World Record is the sixth studio album by the British band Electric Light Orchestra, released in September 1976. The album was remastered and re-released in 2006 with the addition of six bonus tracks. A New World Record was the band's first album to reach the top ten in the UK (the previous three albums were very successful in the US, but not in the musicians ' home country). The album was certified platinum in both the United Kingdom and the United States, selling five million copies in its first year of release. Like the previous album, A New World Record was recorded at Munich's Musicland Studios.
