Lot 95.CERRONE-GOLDEN TOUCH-1978-FIRST PRESS USA-COTILLION-NMINT/NMINT

CERRONE-GOLDEN TOUCH-1978-THE FIRST USA-COTILLION-SD5208 press. A rare American original of a cult album. Cerrone IV - The Golden Touch is the fourth studio album by French disco musician and producer Jean-Marc Cerrone, released in 1978 on Malligator (773,807) in France, on Atlantic branch Cotillion (SD 5208) in the USA, on CBS - in European countries. Having gained the huge popularity of his previous album, Supernatural - Cerrone III (1977), Cerrone decided to consolidate his success by signing important contracts. First of all, he signed an agreement with the Machat brothers: producer Steven Machat and show business lawyer Martin Machat. They became Cerron's managers in order to promote it internationally. Steven Machat signed Cerron to Atlantic Records in the USA and Canada, and to CBS everywhere except the USA, Canada and France. In France, he was given the right to publish on his own Malligator label. While waiting for the fourth album, Cerrone's fans were wondering where it would turn. Will this project be as conceptual and ambitious as the previous Supernatural, or will Cerrone return to the lingering, pleasant to forget and party style of the first albums Love in C Minor (1976) and Cerrone's Paradise (1977)? Making something amazing again after Supernature was, of course, not an easy task. Cerrone didn't repeat himself, but he made the fourth album no worse than the third. Cerrone IV: The Golden Touch was met with rave reviews in the United States, and Atlantic threw a huge party in New York in October 1978, one of the largest parties ever held for artists at that time. The album's envelope was decorated with appropriate pomp, where Cerron is represented in a laurel crown, and the Roman numeral in the title emphasizes his "crowned" status in disco culture. The Golden Touch in the title - The Golden Touch - proudly emphasizes the gold-bearing nature of Cerron's albums, which bring him "golden" discs, one after another. ...more

MILES DAVIS-AT CARNEGIE HALL-1962-THE FIRST PRESS (MONO) UK-CBS-BPG62655 . Matrices A-1L2/B-2L1. A very rare British original of an iconic jazz album  In this live performance, Davis performs with his permanent quintet, accompanied by Gil Evans and his 21-piece orchestra. The orchestra and the quintet perform excerpts from "Miles Ahead" and "Sketches of Spain" together, while the quintet itself performs both Davis originals and standards by Sonny Rollins and Ahmad Jamal, among others.  Although Davis and Evans have recorded several albums together, there have only ever been two live performances with both a quintet and an orchestra. To add to the album's rarity, the Carnegie Hall recordings feature several unique recordings: the only recording of the intro to "So What" orchestrated by Gil Evans and a version of "Spring Is Here" arranged by Evans. ...more

JAN GARBAREK GROUP-IT'S OK TO LISTEN TO THE GRAY VOICE -1985-FIRST PRESS GERMANY- ECM-ECM1294. A rare original of the iconic jazzman. An album by Jan Garbarek's band, recorded in December 1984 and released on ECM in September of the following year. The quartet consists of David Thorne, Eberhard Weber and Michael Di Pasqua. AllMusic gave the album four stars, and critic Mark W. B. Allender wrote: Here Garbarek approaches the extremes of his style, performing with his band again. All the compositions on this album are named after quotes from Thomas Transtroemer's poems, and although the connection with these poems remains weak at best, they add a provocative element to the compositions themselves, which require at least some kind of programmatic interpretation. Multi-instrumentalist David Thorne is primarily responsible for the more aggressive nature of this record. His guitar parts explode with energy and tension, giving Garbarek a wider playing field, and given his penchant for excessive restraint, these are the pleasant moments that adorn the album. ...more
