THE BAND - LAST WALTZ (3LP'S) -1978-FIRST UK PRESS- WARNER-K66076 Rare British original of the iconic concert. "The Last Waltz" is a concert by the Canadian-American rock band The Band, held on American Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1976, at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. The Last Waltz was advertised as the band's "farewell concert",[2] and the band was joined at the concert by over a dozen special guests, including their previous employers Ronnie Hawkins and Bob Dylan, as well as Paul Butterfield, Bobby Charles, Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Emmylou Harris, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, The Staple Singers, Ringo Starr, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Wood and Neil Young. The musical director of the concert was the original producer of the band John Simon. The concert was produced and hosted by Bill Graham and directed by Martin Scorsese, who turned it into a documentary film of the same name, released in 1978. "The Last Waltz" is one of the best, if not the best, rock films ever made, which reveals and energizes a classical band at the peak of its popularity." Chicago Tribune film critic Michael Wilmington calls it "the greatest rock concert film ever made, and arguably the best rock film in history."Terry Lawson of the Detroit Free Press comments, "This is one of the greatest films."  Total Film considers it "the greatest concert film ever made." Aladdin Sane is the sixth studio album by English musician David Bowie, released in the United Kingdom on April 19, 1973 on the RCA Records label. A follow-up to his breakthrough The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, it was the first album he wrote and released from a star position. The album was produced by Bowie and Ken Scott and features performances by Bowie's backing band The Spiders from Mars — Mick Ronson, Trevor Bolder and Mick Woodmansey — with pianist Mike Garson, two saxophonists and three backing vocalists. Recorded in London and New York during the breaks between the stages of the Ziggy Stardust tour, the album was Bowie's last with the full line-up of The Spiders. Aladdin Sane was released in the UK on the RCA label on April 19, 1973. With an estimated order of 100,000 copies, the album debuted at the top of the UK Albums chart, where it lasted five weeks. In the United States, where Bowie has already had three albums on the charts, Aladdin Sane reached 17th place on the Billboard Top LPs chart.  Tape, which became Bowie's most successful commercial album in both countries at the time. A rare Japanese original of a cult album.  Tug of War is the third solo studio album by English musician Paul McCartney, released on April 26, 1982. This is his 11th album since the breakup of The Beatles in 1970, his first album released since the breakup of his band Wings last year, and his first album since the assassination of his former collaborator John Lennon.  Rolling Stone music critic Stephen Holden called Tug of War "a masterpiece that everyone always knew Paul McCartney could create," and particularly admired his vibrant music and consistent songwriting. The album restored McCartney's reputation in the eyes of critics after what was considered a difficult period for him. Tug of War was nominated for the Grammy Album of the Year Award in 1983. ...more
