"Heroes" is the twelfth studio album by British musician David Bowie, released on October 14, 1977 on the RCA Records label; the second of the so-called "Berlin trilogy" (albums Low, "Heroes", Lodger), recorded in collaboration with Brian Eno. The only album of the cycle, entirely recorded in Berlin. On the "Heroes" disc, the sound of Low's previous album evolved in a more "positive" direction. The composition of the same name — a classic story of two lovers secretly meeting near the Berlin Wall with a threat to their lives - remains one of Bowie's most famous songs to this day. The album as a whole was extremely highly appreciated by critics - in particular, thanks to the contribution of guitarist Robert Fripp, who specially flew from the USA for one day to record his guitar parts. The album peaked at number four in the US and number three in the UK. The album contains the singles "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me", which peaked at number 16 on the UK Singles chart and number two in the US, and "The Bitch Is Back", which peaked at number 15 in the UK and number four in the US. Both singles reached number one in Canada on the national RPM 100 Top Singles Chart, as did the album itself. The album was met with lukewarm reviews on its release, and legacy reviews do not consider this record one of John's best works from his peak period of the early 1970s. However, the album was a commercial success and was certified double platinum in the US, as well as being certified gold in the UK.
