This is their last album with drummer Cozy Powell and the only album with vocalist Graham Bonnet. This is the third and last studio album of the Collective Consciousness Society. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London from January to May 1973 and released in September of the same year. In Australia, the album was called "The Band Played Boogie". The album includes, in particular, covers of songs by The Kinks and Cream, and it is equally divided by original compositions. The style continues the style of their two previous albums, with heavy rock and blues songs arranged on jazz instruments. The Overlanders 'only UK hit was a cover of The Beatles' "Michelle". In January 1966, it reached number 1 on the Record Retailers chart (later the UK Singles Chart). In doing so, the single beat off a rival recording of David and Jonathan's "Michelle", whose version was produced by George Martin and featured arrangements by Tony Hatch.  ...more
