People Are People is a compilation album by the British band Depeche Mode, released on July 2, 1984 in order to consolidate the broadcast success of the song "People Are People", which was released as a single in March 1984. The collection includes nine songs, six of which were already present on Depeche Mode studio albums, and three songs became new for the USA — the singles "People Are People" and "Get the Balance Right!", as well as the B-sides "Now, This Is Fun" and "Work Hard" from the singles "See You" and "Everything Counts" respectively. The song "Love in Itself", also present on the compilation, is somewhat different from the version presented on the album Construction Time Again.

The album was recorded at London's Olympic Studios with producer Glyn Jones and released in 1972. The album immediately became a success for the young band, taking 22nd place in the charts and becoming platinum. Three singles were released from the album, each of which hit the Top 40: "Take It Easy" (12th place), "Witchy Woman" (9th place) and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" (22nd place). The band, starting with this album, played an important role in popularizing the sound of country rock.
