The Soundtrack is a live album by jazz saxophonist Charles Lloyd, recorded at New York City Hall in 1968 by the Charles Lloyd Quartet featuring Keith Jarrett, Ron McClure and Jack DeJohnette.Tom Jurek's review on Allmusic awarded the album 4 stars and reads: "The soundtrack stomps with all the fury of a live gospel choir trying to assign Saturday night to God and not another guy... With only four tunes presented, the Charles Lloyd Quartet, although slightly more dissonant than in 1966 and 1967, plays much harder, rougher and gets into rhythm faster than any group that Lloyd led previously... The band broke up shortly after when Jarrett left to play with Miles Davis, but if it had been a swan song live, they couldn't have picked a better gig. ...more
