A Day at the Races immediately came under fire from critics. Queen was accused of an unsuccessful attempt to repeat A Night At The Opera. The album turned out to be really very similar to the previous one, but this was never hidden by the musicians. DEEP PURPLE-FIREBALL-1971-SECOND PRESS 1972 JAPAN-WARNER-P-8092W Rare Japanese edition of the cult album. Fireball is the fifth studio album by the British rock band Deep Purple. Recorded between September 1970 and June 1971, it was released in September 1971 on the Harvest Records label. The album was recorded at De Lane Lea Studios (like its predecessor). Compared to Deep Purple in Rock, this album was recorded in a more experimental style. Allmusic named it one of the band's four most important albums, along with Machine Head, In Rock and Burn. Ian Gillan, unlike the rest of the band, considers this album a classic of Deep Purple. However, he noted that the inclusion of "Anyone's Daughter" on the album (in a country style and with humorous lyrics) was fun, but a mistake ("A good bit of fun, but a mistake"). Jon Lord highlighted several tracks on the album, such as "No No No" and "Fools", and especially noted Pace's performance on the title track. The track "Strange Kind of Woman", released as a single in February 1971 and rose to number eight in the UK charts. It sold 20,000 copies in the first week.
