A mega rare original of the second press of the first album, which is one of the icons in rock music. Black Sabbath is the debut album by the rock band Black Sabbath, released in the United Kingdom on February 13, 1970. On March 7, 1970, the album rose to #8 on the UK Albums Chart and to #23 on the Billboard 200. Recorded in just three days (8 hours of studio work) and costing the band only 1,200 pounds, Black Sabbath's debut album is now considered a heavy metal classic. In the IGN Music list (Top 25 Metal Albums), he is in 13th place (the band's second album, Paranoid, is second here, behind Master of Puppets (Metallica)).

It was his first album after the breakup of his band the Bluesbreakers in May 1968,[3] although others claim it was July 14, 1968. It was also his last album with Decca before moving to Polydor.John Mayall sings and plays harmonica, organ and guitar on the album. The other band members are a young Mick Taylor (guitar), Colin Allen (drums) and Steven Thompson (bass). Guitarist Peter Green is featured in the track "First Time Alone". The engineer was Derek Varnals. All the songs on the album were written by Mayall.The album's title comes from Laurel Canyon, California, USA (in the Los Angeles area), where John Mayall subsequently lived from 1969 to 1979. This is an account of his visit there before moving to the United States on a more permanent basis. At that time, this area was loved by many musicians.
